Stefanie Cain

Owner of Cain Coaching

I began my triathlon coaching career in 2011, and I’ve been happily coaching athletes ever since. I fell in love with triathlons after taking on a sprint triathlon with a friend! I did better than I expected by placing 2nd in my age group, but more than that, I’d found something I loved doing and a community I loved as well! I started coaching a few friends through their first triathlon in 2011, and found that it was a true passion and calling for me. Cain Coaching became my full-time career in 2015, and I feel fortunate to be able to continue to coach athletes both physically and mentally.

My professional credentials are as follows:

>B.S. degree from Eastern University in Biokinetics

>Master’s in Public Health from University of South Carolina (focus in exercise science and aging)

>USA Triathlon Level I Certified Coach

>US Masters Swimming Level II Certified Coach

>American College of Sports Medicine Certified Exercise Physiologist

>Ironman and 70.3 finisher

>Qualified for USA Triathlon Age Group National Championship

>More than 10 years as a personal trainer and group fitness and water aerobics instructor

As a wife, mom to a little boy and two dogs, and business owner, I understand that life calls us to wear many hats and that training and life are multifaceted, and I treat my clients as individuals. Life and training are demanding, and we need to respect all aspects of our lives!

Coaching Accolades

As a coach, I have presented at international conferences, received the Innovator of the Year Award for creating a triathlon training program specifically designed to train the 55+ age group to compete in triathlons, and been featured in the New York Times as an expert on training retirees to do triathlons! I have developed award winning triathlon programs and received a South Carolina Leading Age Innovation Award in 2014 for one of my training programs designed specifically for adults over age 55. I have also presented my programs at national conferences and received recognition for my efforts to encourage the growth of the multi-sport lifestyle.

I have coached more than 80 athletes through their first races and helped many competitors reach their fitness and triathlon goals. I did my first triathlon when I moved to South Carolina to make some new friends and join a community. I have a background in competitive swimming and running road races, so I was instantly in love with this sport that combined some of my favorite forms of exercise. After getting a few races under my belt, I was hooked! I have been fortunate enough to enjoy a career helping others discover their passions.

I look forward to helping you reach your full potential through a fun, interactive, and understanding coaching style where I’ll push your limits to help you achieve your dreams!
